Moon Maidens workshops are inspired to support the exploration of the beauty and power of preteen and teen girls. These workshops are wonderful opportunities for girls to learn how to honor this changing time in their lives. In these workshops we look back through the history of women, share our stories, ask our questions and learn how to know and chart our monthly moon cycle.
The practice of yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation and other creative activities will help them to tap into the wisdom that is inherent in growing with greater sensitivity and awareness.
Kate is dedicated to helping young women step more into the their own power and confidence, helping them to learn how to create healthy boundaries, recognize their talents and participate in a conscious way.
Teen Talking Circles are weekly meetings where teens can come together and share their life experiences. There are circles for girls and circles for boys, and there are also mixed gender circles called Gender Talks. These weekly circles create a safe environment where teens can voice their concerns and have a place to be real. The circle is place where teens can gain a greater experience of acceptance and really honor this stage in their lives. Circles hold a space of truth and insight, free of judgement and criticism. It’s a space that facilitates the empowerment and strength of each individual who is a part of it. The heart of this work is to gain greater understanding of each other as we participate in the world together.
This extraordinary program was created and developed by Linda Wolf and Wind Hughes during their research for their book, Daughters of the Moon, Sisters of the Sun: Young Women & Mentors on the Transitions to Womanhood. To learn more about this program go to www.teentalkingcircles.org
