Blessing Way Ceremony is drawn from the Navajo people, based on the story of Changing Woman, a major deity to the Navajo. The Blessing Way Ceremony made here, is in no way an actual Navajo Ceremony. This is said out of great respect for the history and culture of these people. Much gratitude is held for the many ways the American Indian traditions have shared the sacredness of life and their value of ceremony. It is through ceremony that the world may be healed...
Blessing Way Ceremony is a manner in which we can honor the monumental times in our lives. It is a way of marking the thresholds for which time is distinctly marked. In our fast passed, busy lives, we tend to forget to take the time to honor these transitions and a Blessing Way Ceremony helps us to aknowledge our own growth and change at these times. The circle gives a person a place to be honored and blessed, and becomes the strong stepping stone from which they may step forward into the new part of their life.
Most Blessing Way Ceremony is done for expecting mothers these days. It is a wonderful way to gather women together in a circle of strength and support. The women shower the mother with love and devotion and offer prayers for her and the safe delivery of her child.
A Blessing Way can also be held for a girl’s first moon time and honor this time of transition into womanhood. There are many ways to create circle for preteen and teen girls. It can be earthy and ritualized or it can be more of a “girl’s spa day”. There are many creative ways we can gather and mark the beauty held in this time of change.
Blessing Way Ceremony can be offered for a Bride the night before her wedding. This creates the time and space to really honor who this woman is and who she has been before meeting her beloved. Once again, she is showered with love and blessed on her way.
Blessing Way Ceremony can be gathering of support before going into surgery or even at a time hospice care. It brings a great sense of being held by family and community, and that security helps them move through their journey with grace and ease.
